Leaving town… (and whining about gas prices)

17 05 2008

I’ll be at Chicoutimi until monday. And by “going to Chicoutimi” I mean “bored without internet until monday”. Of course I’ll try to take some pictures (and buy a camera?).

Now I wonder what’s the cost difference between travelling back when we moved to Granby and now. I’m pretty sure it was cheaper with the truck loaded with furniture than it is now with the astonishingly high gas price.

As a matter of fact, in 2002, the gas never went over 73ยข/l in Canada. As of May 2008, it’s at 1.35$/l, over the double of what it was 6 years ago. Why you ask? Well maybe it was slightly windy on a oil platform in the pacific so they decided to dramatically raise the gas prices “just to be sure”. The summer arriving and the massive amount of people travelling around is like TOTALLY unrelated.

Meanwhile, various newspapers ironically state the ample supplies left. This article, dated of last February, foresees that the price will go down during spring. Heh.
